Where The Dirty Hipsters Are

This 'Where The Wild Things Are' spoof made me laugh (especially the first line):

Happy 40th Birthday, Sesame Street!

Sesame Street is at the top of a very short list of TV shows that have had the ability to affect so many lives, in so many positive ways, for so many years. When Ben was working there a couple of summers ago, I got to visit the Astoria studio, which was a dream come true (and totally surreal, as you can imagine). I sincerely hope it gets to see 40 more years of smart, charming, innovative programming.

Some of my all-time favorite clips:

Deb and Stu Grow a Mustache

My friend Stu and I are growing out mustaches for the month of Movember (formerly known as November) and keeping a day by day chronicle. Yeah, you read that right; I'm, er, growing out a mustache. (You'll see.)

We're doing it because a.) it'll be hilarious and b.) IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE! Any and all donations go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Livestrong.

So far we've raised a whopping 5 bucks, but I know we can do better than that. So stay tuned by visint Deb and Stu Grow a Mustache every day. We'll try and keep things exciting.

Midlake/Other Lives

Getting into Midlake and Other Lives. The video for Midlake's 'Roscoe' has so much untapped Fleetwood Mac potential...I can't tell if I love it or hate it (Mike, you know exactly what I mean).

Autumn Sun

I love how the look and feel of Paris oozes out of Garance's photos so effortlessly. Even the blurred background--the trees, the tight corners of the sidewalk, that light...

This photo also makes me realize (sadly) that I didn't get to take any Autumn in New York photos before my SLR camera was stolen over the weekend. Yep, a few tears were shed over the incident. But it was comforting to hear my parents' reaction when I told them what happened: 'Are you hurt? No? Then that's all that matters. It's just a camera. Aren't there new ones that shoot HD video?' Which was pretty much the same reaction I had (after the initial tears).
Having been in New York for 9 years, something like this was bound to happen at some point; I think what really shocked me more than anything were the circumstances in which it happened: in a green room set aside for myself and other bands performing that night at a friend's fundraiser. Meaning, not some crazy stranger on the street, but someone I had seen and/or complimented on their awesome performance.

Anyway, onwards and upwards!

Gorgeous family portrait of the Obamas, shot by Annie Leibovitz. I mean, seriously. Gorgeous. [Image via the White House Flickr stream.]
